On February 19–20, 2026, the International Scientific Conference “Gli Arbëreshë d’Italia, Una civiltà tra le due sponde dell’Adriatico” (The Arbëreshë of Italy – A Civilization Between the Two Shores of the Adriatic) was held at the premises of the University of Bologna.
This important academic event was attended by professors from the Department of Albanian Language and Literature of the Faculty of Philology. Associate Professor Dr. Shkelqim Millaku presented the paper “The Contribution of Italian Scholars to Albanian Morphosyntax.” This paper was also researched and co-prepared with Associate Professor Dr. Ilir Krusha and Assistant Professor Dr. Shpëtim Zymberaj.
Meanwhile, the Acting Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Assistant Professor Dr. Fikret Ramadani, presented the paper “The Literary Creativity of Zef Skiroi Di Maxho in the Perspective of the Researcher Vebi Bexheti.”
In addition, Associate Professor Dr. Shkelqim Millaku served as co-chair of the first session on the second day of the conference.
The studies presented by the professors of the Faculty of Philology attracted considerable interest from the audience and were well received by scholars. Moreover, this meeting offered an excellent opportunity for the exchange of ideas and scientific discussions, highlighting the role of the Albanian language and literature in preserving national identity beyond the Adriatic.
This activity, held at the University of Bologna—the first university of European civilization (1088)—clearly demonstrates the progress and internationalization of Albanological thought promoted by the professors of the Faculty of Philology.
